Dr. Warres graduated from Haverford College and the University of Maryland Medical School before training as a Psychiatric Resident and Chief Resident at the University of Maryland Hospital.  He completed an elective in Forensic Psychiatry (Legal Psychiatry) with a nationally regarded expert, Jonas Rappeport, M.D.  He trained in family therapy with Jay Haley and Cloe´ Madanes – internationally known family therapists.  His subspecialty experience was in Consultation-Liaison psychiatry, and he was a psychiatric consultant at the University of Maryland Hospital dealing with patients in various departments including Neurology, Neurosurgery and Surgery.  He has held a variety of offices and committee chairmanships with the Maryland Psychiatric Society – including its presidency.  He is active in the Maryland Medical Society (Med Chi), is a member of the Baltimore County Medical Society, and is currently President of the Maryland Foundation for Psychiatry.  He has taught, lectured, and published on a variety of subjects including psychiatric aspects of care for medically ill hospitalized patients, and psychiatric aspects of recovery from traumatic injury.  Dr. Warres’s clinical experience has included caring for head injured patients, patients with amputations, quadriplegia, paraplegia, strokes, geriatric patients, as well as many adults who have attempted suicide, and people suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.  He has treated people of all ages ranging from young adulthood to geriatric patients.
